A man shot by a police officer in Danbury Wednesday is facing charges.
Police released the 911 audio from the day of the incident where callers confirm Aaron Bouffard was wielding a knife and threatening people at a treatment facility.
They released the audio of four different calls made about the incident at Midwestern Connecticut Council of Alcoholism, a private facility for substance abuse treatment.
Investigators say the 31-year-old got in a physical altercation inside the facility.
Police arrived on the scene and say Bouffard was wielding two butcher knives and coming toward authorities. Police say they tried to deescalate the situation, but that Bouffard wouldn't drop the knives.
State police say officer Alex Relyea, with the Danbury Police Department, fired several rounds at Bouffard and shot him three times.
Officials say this is not the first time Relyea has been involved in a shooting. They say Relyea fatally shot a suspect who was armed with a knife in December 2018.
Bouffard was discharged from Yale New Haven Hospital and faces multiple charges, including assault.
He is being held on a $250,000 bond and will be arraigned Wednesday at Danbury Superior Court.
