A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in Harriman State Park Wednesday for Camp Junior, a summer camp named after Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz.
More than 500 children are expected to attend the camp, which is located on Lake Tiorati in the Hudson Valley.
Park officials say the campgrounds had not been used in the past few years, but they now feature new basketball courts, cabins and more to keep kids off the streets this summer.
State and city leaders teamed up with New York State Parks and the Fresh Air Fund to make Camp Junior possible.
