Officials in Milford say a suspicious man approached a young girl Friday morning.
Police say the young girl was walking to work near Naugatuck and Bridgeport avenues when a man in a dark-colored SUV with tinted windows asked her if she wanted a ride.
Authorities say she turned him down and he drove off.
They say that the child then saw the car immediately spin around and head towards her as she continued walking.
Police say the man was more aggressive and yelled, "Why don't you just get in the car?"
They say the girl managed to get away before he drove off again.
Officials are increasing patrols in the area, and are asking parents to talk to their children about what they should do to keep safe.
"Just make sure they're well-versed on, and under no circumstances are they ever to get into a car with someone that they didn't actually know," says Officer Mike Devito, of the Milford Police Department.
Police are asking the public to contact them with any information about the incident.
