Train delays Monday night only added to the unpleasantness of a wet, humid commute in Brooklyn.
Delays in Brooklyn stemmed from malfunctions at the Franklin Avenue station. The MTA advised New Yorkers to avoid the 2, 3, 4 and 5 trains because of switch problems, as well as an investigation of an assaulted MTA conductor at Borough Hall.
Viewer video shows that passengers had to walk out of stopped trains, sometimes dealing with rats and overcrowding. Above ground, New Yorkers had to deal with flooding and storms as out-of-service buses lined up along the Eastern Parkway, while others ran as subway shuttles.
The MTA apologized for the delays and offered alternate routes while the issues were sorted out.
The trains are back up and running.
