Virgin Galactic has unveiled its new space base. The new Spaceport America compound is located in New Mexico. About 600 people have already paid $250,000 each to take the 90-minute flight into space, but the company has not yet announced launch dates. The space tourists will spend three days at the camp preparing for their trip, where they will be served champagne, caviar and seared tuna. Virgin has completed two test flights into space this year.
Weight Watchers has launched a new service for kids. The app, called Kurbo, is aimed at children ages 8 to 17. It lets the young users track their food for free, and grades what they eat. Some Weight Watcher enthusiasts are applauding Kurbo as almost one-fifth of U.S. children and teenagers are obese. However, some nutritionists are worried that the app could lead to an unhealthy relationship with food, at an impressionable time in a young person's life.
Chinese company Segway-Ninebot has introduced a new self-driving e-scooter. It has three wheels, and can drive itself to charging stations. The company says both Uber and Lyft have expressed interest in the new scooter.
