Soundview family calls on city for help with mold issues

Posted: Updated:

A family in Soundview is calling on the city for help in regards to mold in their apartment.

The family had a lot to say about the New York City Housing Authority and how they are treating the apartment.

Julissa Martinez told News 12 they have found mold on the walls, in cabinets and that the kitchen and bathroom sink are not working.

Residents say they have lived here for around two decades and the issues are only getting worse.

They say they want NYCHA to find a long-term fix to the problems. Martinez says their daughter should not have to live like this.

News 12 reached out to NYCHA  about the apartment and they said they prioritize health and safety concerns of residents and claim tickets have been made for mold or mildew.

NYCHA did not say if they would be sending anyone to help this family after they were provided photos of the apartment by News 12.
