After over two years, students at P.S. 46 will have a new and larger space to learn and play.
The more than $84 million project will not only be adding new facilities, but also a larger performance space and a rooftop play area.
The school will also have new classrooms and provide space for an additional 500 students.
"What we are seeing here today is a culmination of efforts to bring additional seats to an overcrowded district in the Bronx," said NYC School Construction Authority spokesman Kevin Ortiz.
Teachers are excited about the renovation at the school and say they have access to much that they didn't for many years.
Teachers say it was worth the wait. The new addition allows all of P.S. 46 to be under one roof for the first time in over 25 years.
