Slow buses and unreliable service are just some of the issues Bronx riders say are causing major headaches during their daily commute.
Bus riders and transit advocates met outside the Bx6 bus stop on Wednesday. They say the MTA isn't investing enough funds into their new redesign project, and they're hoping to change that.
As the MTA works on drafting its new Bronx Bus Network Redesign Project, riders say they want to see shorter wait times.
Commuters also want to see faster and more frequent service. They also say they would like expanded peak hours.
Transit activists say they appreciate the MTA's efforts, but that they don't see how much can change without appropriate funding.
According to the MTA, at least 16% of Bronx resdients commute, primarily by bus. The MTA says the bus has some of the slowest bus speeds in the nation, travelling at less than 7 mph.
Now transit advocates tell News 12 they are open to further investments, but right now it's unclear how far they're willing to go.
Riders say they also want the MTA to increase the distance between stops to shorten travel times for passengers.
The MTA's final plan is expected to be released at the end of the month.
