The annual Longwood festival had crowds salsa dancing in the South Bronx on Saturday.
The concert was a celebration of Latin music, dance and food.
City Council Member Rafael Salamanca Jr. organized the concert with the Hispanic Federation. “I was born and in raised in this community,” he says. “And now I represent this community in City Hall and I want to give back to my community.”
Puerto Rican salsa musician Jerry Rivera came to perform at the event.
“Our culture is about the arts,” Salamanca says. “And it’s about the music.”
Councilman Salamanca says thousands of people were expected to attend the concert.
