PS 340 to receive major upgrade in 2021

Posted: Updated:

A multimillion-dollar construction project is in the works on an annex at a Kingsbridge school.

P.S. 340 was originally built as an overflow site for a different school, but after becoming its own entity, the school started bursting at the seams.

A lot nearby is now being transformed to address the overcrowding, in a project totaling around $47 million.

"First and foremost we are going to have a new gymatorium which means that we will actually have enough space to get in our required physical education minutes and we will also be able to do our performances," says Principal Alexei Nichols.

More classrooms and a cafeteria are also a part of the project.

Teachers say they are happy that physical education can actually into a real space when the annex opens in 2021.
