Authorities say one man was killed and another was injured in a shooting in Neptune Township Friday night.
It happened in the 1000 block of Corlies Avenue shortly after 8 p.m., according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of the R-NU Barbershop.
Police say they then learned that two men had arrived at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in separate vehicles, each with gunshot wounds.
The prosecutor's office says 46-year-old Wayne E. Jones, of Neptune Township, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The injured man, a 42-year-old Trenton resident, was treated and released. His identity wasn't provided.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor say the case marks the second homicide at the same location in Neptune Township in the past year. There is no word yet on any arrests.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office at 1-800-533-7443, or to contact Detective Erick Amadruto of the Neptune Township Police Department at 732-988-5200.
