Police: 9-year-old girl set herself on fire in school bathroom

Police say first responders rushed to Excellence Girls Charter School Wednesday after a 9-year-old girl accidentally set herself on fire.
Police say it happened just before 3 p.m. They say they found her conscious and alert with second- and third-degree burns to her neck, chest, lower back and arms.
Investigators are trying to figure out how the accident happened.
Police say the girl is being treated at Cornell Medical. They say she is in critical condition.
A spokesperson for the school responded to the incident with a statement saying, "Our focus is on supporting the student and her family and our school community. We are working with the authorities and will continue to communicate with and support our families and students."
