The sudden announcement that a Norwalk day care was closing left some parents scrambling just as the school year was about to begin – but a solution quickly revealed itself.
News 12 reported in late August that Children's Corner Learning Center on Connecticut Avenue would shut its doors on Sept. 30. There was no explanation given as to why it was closing.
After seeing the report, Robert Rubicco and his wife stepped in to help out. They already owned a day care in New Rochelle and saw an opportunity to expand.
They say within two weeks they had signed a lease and were being contacted by parents.
“Anna and Jack's Treehouse” opened the day after its predecessor closed.
“That was a big thing for us. We didn't want there to be any lapse,” says Robert Rubicco.
A majority of staff stayed on, as did about half the families of the original Children’s Corner.
