Authorities have ruled the death of a nursing home resident in Crown Heights a homicide.
The victim has been identified as 74-year-old Eitel Vargas, who was a resident of the Crown Heights Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Police responded to a call regarding an assault at the nursing home on St. Mark's Place between New York Avenue and Brooklyn Avenue on Aug. 10.
Sources tell News 12 that there was an argument over a pair of pants which escalated and caused Vargas to get hit in the head by another resident. He was rushed to the hospital and eventually died from his injuries three days later.
No one has been charged for the crime as of yet and police are investigating the incident.
