Former Hempstead Town councilman sentenced to 6 months in prison for tax evasion

A former Hempstead Town councilman was sentenced to six months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for tax evasion.
Edward Ambrosino was ordered by the court to also pay nearly $1 million in restitution to his former employer and the IRS.
Ambrosino pleaded guilty in April to a single count of tax evasion. He admitted to diverting payments from his clients at a law firm where he worked to another company he owned, then filing false tax returns.
