Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi form new venture

The Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi alliance will form a new company to research and develop electric and self-driving cars. According to Kyodo news, the new venture will be announced officially in January. The partnership is back on track a year after former Nissan CEO and Chairman Carlos Gohn was arrested for fraud and financial wrongdoing.

Marijuana is now legal in the state of Michigan. Recreational cannabis sales began Sunday, with the first dispensaries opening in the college town of Ann Arbor. Michigan is now the 10th state to legalize marijuana sales, while Illinois is set to become the 11th state when legalized sales take effect New Year's Day.

Hostess is buying the Canadian company Voortman Cookies for $320 million. Hostess says the acquisition will complement its portfolio of other sweet snacks, including Ding Dongs, Snowballs and the iconic Twinkies.
