Islip Terrace DOT worker accused of stealing over $12,000 in fraudulent wages

A state Department of Transportation worker has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $12,000 after falsifying time sheets.

A state Department of Transportation worker has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $12,000 after falsifying time sheets. 
Darlene Hanratty, of Islip Terrace, has been charged with grand larceny and official misconduct.
Hanratty has been employed by the DOT since 2007.
She was arraigned in court on Tuesday and is due back on Jan. 1, 2020.
If convicted, she faces a maximum of two-and-a-third to seven years in prison.
