A 78-year-old Bay Shore man turned himself into police Wednesday night in connection to a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a woman.
According to police, Edward Kadir was driving a red SUV when it hit 74-year-old Mary Barbato on Monday morning.
The incident happened on Moffitt Boulevard near Brentwood Road. Barbato remains in critical condition at Southside Hospital.
Barbato's brother, John, says she underwent surgery at the hospital Wednesday. He says nearly every bone in her body is broken, including her spine.
Mary Barbato was apparently walking to her job at Suffolk Transportation Services just after 6 a.m. Monday when the incident occurred.
Kadir is scheduled to be arraigned on March 3.
