Over the last two days the city has been distributing thousands of face coverings at parks and plans on distributing more this week.
The mask distribution began Saturday, and the goals is to hand out 100,000 of them by Tuesday.
At some locations, supplies have been running out pretty quickly, so those in need of masks are advised to get to a distribution site early in the day.
Over the weekend, 4,000 face coverings were available at Crotona Park in the Bronx, but those ran out in 40 minutes.
All New Yorkers are now required to cover their nose and mouth when they're out in public and must stay 6 feet away from other people. This as the city tries to stay on track with flattening the curve.
Over the weekend Mayor Bill de Blasio told New Yorkers they should be proud because as they've followed social distancing, the curve has flattened.
Officials want to keep that going and prevent the numbers from going back up.
Distribution sites in the Bronx Monday included Rose Hill Park, Soundview Park and Rainey Park. In Brooklyn, there were distributions at five locations including McCarren Park, Coffey Park, Betsy Park and Sunset Park.
All masks were handed out for free because officials want to make sure there are no excuses for being in public without a face covering.
