Child care centers are set to reopen next week, but will have to make some changes to the way things are done due to the pandemic.
Andre Farrell runs the Katmint Learning Initiative in Brooklyn. Farrell has been sending videos to families to get them ready to come back. One change requires parents to take a health screening through an app at home.
"If the healthcare app says it is probable for the child to come in to the program we will let them in," says Farrell.
Farrell says temperatures will also be taken at the center. In addition, drop offs will be at different times and kids and staff will need to wear masks. There will also be more hand sanitizer throughout the center.
The Department of Health checked on the center to make sure all the new requirements were in place.
"They were really impressed with the classroom arrangement, the setup and how things were spaced out," says Farrell.
Farrell says it's important for everyone to practice proper handwashing at home to help keep everyone safe and on the same page.
