Suffolk police to hold news conference Thursday on new evidence in Gilgo Beach murders

Suffolk County police say they will hold a news conference Thursday to discuss new evidence in the Gilgo Beach killings.
As News 12 has reported, 10 sets of human remains were found along Ocean Parkway nine years ago.
No arrests have been made, and many of the victims still haven't been identified. It was the search for Shannan Gilbert that led to the discovery of the other bodies.
In October, state officials cleared the way for "genetic genealogy" to be used in the investigation. It's a type of DNA analysis in which genetic profiles are run through genealogical databases to find potential relatives.
The news conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will air live on News 12.
