Firefighters responded to an apartment building fire in Van Nest Saturday that left one person seriously injured.
Emergency crews say the fire started around 1:45 p.m. on the sixth floor of a building on 1500 Noble Ave.
Residents that made it out unharmed are thanking firefighters for their quick response to the flames.
“It was smoke coming out of the apartment, and we called 911, I believe a couple other people call 911, and they got here pretty quickly," says resident Valerie Patterson.
The injured resident was taken to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment for unknown injuries.
There is no word yet as to what caused the fire.
