The families in our area weren't the only ones devastated by Superstorm Sandy 10 years ago. Tens of thousands of pets were impacted in the aftermath.
Some residents were forced to leave their storm-damaged home, which resulted in beloved pets being stranded. First responders went on door-to-door rescues around the tri-state to recover abandoned animals. As Sandy decimated homes and left residents with nowhere to go, some made the tough decision to surrender their beloved pets to local animal shelters until they were able to get back on their feet.
