A Bedford Park fire destroyed two homes and injured eight people Tuesday, displacing several families and prompting a large-scale FDNY response.
More than 170 firefighters responded when flames broke out in a two-family home at 2854 Briggs Ave. around 11:19 a.m. Ten people lived there.
Fire officials say they think it started on the second floor and spread upward and to the building next door. A basement tenant says her apartment was destroyed as well.
Five families were displaced altogether, according to the Red Cross.
All of the injuries were minor. At least one firefighter was among those hurt, according to authorities.
