Bronx Monroe University student killed in Hempstead triple shooting
The 19-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The two male victims, both 20 years old, were taken to a hospital and are in stable condition.

A Bronx Monroe University student was killed and two Nassau Community College students were injured in a shooting Saturday night in Hempstead.
Nassau police say they responded to a ShotSpotter notification near Willow Avenue and Kennedy Avenue where they found the three victims.
The victim, a 19-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The two students, both identified as 20-year-old men, were taken to a hospital and were initially listed in stable condition.
Monroe University issued a statement on Sunday night. It reads, "The Monroe University community is devastated by the tragic loss of student Amira McCleod, a cherished member of our Express women’s basketball team, who was killed during an off-campus gathering in Hempstead, Long Island, last night. We are in close contact with Amira’s family, teammates, and roommates, offering our full support as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Grief counselors are available on campus today and in the days ahead to support our students during this difficult time. We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Amira’s family, friends, and all who knew and loved her."
Nassau Community College also issued a statement Sunday evening, saying that the two injured men are current students. It reads, "Both were hospitalized but have since been discharged and are expected to make full recoveries. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this senseless act of violence."
As of Sunday night, police had not revealed additional details about the victims, potential suspects or the sequence of events that led up to the shooting. They are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
Jagesly Castellone was home and heard the gunshots.
"I thought it was a car and after, I heard a car zoom by," she said. "Me and my sister ran out to go see what happened. We went to the corner and there was someone laying there on the floor and then they covered their body. Everybody then started freaking out."
Neighbor Tanner Hynes told News 12 on Sunday afternoon that he knew the two men who were injured.
"I heard from my two friends and they are alright. One is in the hospital, and the other one is already out and he is fine," Tanner said.
