Two Bronx men have been arrested in connection to the hit-and-run of a police officer while racing through Times Square, officials say.
Arfhy Santos, 20, and William Lopez, 24, of the Bronx, were arrested in Manhattan on Wednesday.
Santos, who police have identified as the driver of a 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63, was racing through Times Square around 11:45 p.m. Saturday in a video shared on social media. In the video, a walking police officer attempts to stop Santos by getting in the path of the Benz but is clipped by the vehicle as Santos speeds away. The officer was thrown to the ground but did not suffer any serious injuries. He was taken to Mt. Sinai St. Luke's hospital and treated for minor injuries to his arm and back.
Police say Santos struck several vehicles as he fled the scene.
Lopez was identified as the owner of the vehicle, and police say both Lopez and Santos have several prior arrests.
Police also say Lopez was wanted by the NYPD for performing a racing stunt on a Harlem sidewalk just one day before the Times Square incident.
Charges are pending against both men, according to police.
Police are still searching for the Mercedes-Benz used during the incident.
