Two Bronx High School of Science sisters are fighting to get new legislation passed that would require all theaters across the state to provide open caption screenings.

"The deaf and hard of hearing community should have access to movie theaters and movie theaters should be inclusive," said Sarah Lin, a senior at Bronx High School of Science.

The teens were inspired by their mother, who has progressive hearing loss.

"We've experienced firsthand how inaccessible things in this society can be," said Julia Lin, a sophomore at Bronx High School of Science.

The bill is currently in the state Assembly. The teens are working to get it passed by the end of the legislative session in June.
