Two firefighters were injured and transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi according to officials. One was inflicted with serious injuries, but both are expected to be okay.
The FDNY says the Bravo supermarket went up in flames at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday and took over four hours to get under control.
Officials say the fire started in the basement and on the first floor of the supermarket and spread from there. Almost 170 firefighters and EMS members responded to the four-alarm fire. People in the area are concerned about the trend in fires lately and are calling for help.
There are apartments above the supermarket that were also impacted. The Red Cross says they are helping some of the families that live there by providing financial help to four families and emergency housing to one.
