Fire officials say two firefighters were injured after a fire ripped through an apartment building in the Crotona Gardens apartment complex in Crotona Park Monday morning.

The fire started at 2:45 a.m. Monday at 1700 Crotona Park East, according to the FDNY.

Tenants say the flames started in a sixth-floor apartment and then quickly spread.

Video from Citizen App shows flames shooting out of the roof of the building and clouds of smoke billowing into the air.

More than 100 firefighters and emergency personnel responded to the scene.

FDNY say the fire was contained around 4:30 a.m.

No civilian injuries were reported.

A sign on the front door stated that the building is currently under a partial vacate order.

Crews were on scene to begin cleaning up the debris hours after the blaze.

The Red Cross says it is assisting four households of nine adults with financial aid and temporary lodging.

One frequent visitor of the building says the damage is devastating.

"One neighbor told me everything she has is destroyed... I feel bad for her," said Yuly, whose father and grandmother live in the building.

Any residents who were displaced by the fire should contact Red Cross responders at 877-REDCROSS (option 1) for assistance.
