2 fires spark blocks away from one another in Throgs Neck

FDNY says one firefighter suffered a minor injury and was taken to a hospital.

Two separate house fires broke out just blocks apart in Throgs Neck Saturday night, drawing a large emergency response and sending two to the hospital, according to the FDNY.

The first fire was reported at 275 Hollywood Ave. at 9:26 p.m. and was brought under control at 1:29 a.m.

FDNY says one firefighter suffered a minor injury and was taken to a hospital.

A second fire was reported nearby just under an hour later at 232 Kearney Ave.

Firefighters arrived at 10:11 p.m. to find a fire on the first floor of a private home.

The blaze was quickly elevated to a second alarm at 10:17 p.m., with 46 units and 141 FDNY and EMS personnel responding.

One person was taken to a nearby hospital in an unknown condition.

The fire was put under control at 11:38 p.m.

The cause of both fires is under investigation.
