Two homes are destroyed after a fast-moving overnight fire in University Heights.
News 12 the Bronx is told that 106 firefighters worked for nearly an hour to extinguish the blaze at 70 West 181st St., one of them suffered minor injuries.
The two-alarm blaze broke out on the first floor, then spread to the second and third. It also made its way to the house next door, destroying the top floor and causing water damage to the rest.
"The alarms didn't go off because there was no smoke in the house, but the dog automatically smelled it and he woke everyone up," says homeowner Luis Diaz.
Neighbors say that they don't believe anyone was living in the home where it started.
The Diaz family is now staying with loved ones until they can return back to their home.
