The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying two people wanted in connection with a brutal assault on an MTA bus in Morris Heights.
Police say a 32-year-old woman was attacked following a heated argument on board a BX36 bus on March 6. Investigators say the bus was traveling near West 177th Street and West Tremont Avenue around 10 p.m. when the incident happened.
According to police, the woman was punched multiple times. She suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention at the scene.
Authorities released images of the two individuals they are seeking in connection with the assault. More than a month after the incident, both remain at large.
The assault comes as transit crime in the area has surged. City data shows incidents are up 175% compared with the same time last year.
Commuters in Morris Heights say the violence is raising concerns about safety on public transportation.
“I don’t know if the cameras are good enough, but even with cameras people still do what they gotta do,” said Yazlin, of Morris Heights. “I don’t really feel safe, but we have to still get to where we need to go.”
