Crews responded to a large sinkhole Monday on a residential block in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx.
Emergency crews responded to the area at 1905 Harrison Ave. 9:25 a.m. for reports of a sinkhole.
The FDNY says it notified the Department of Environmental Protection, which is now handling the situation and in the process of bringing in a tow truck to remove a Nissan SUV hanging partly in the crater.
The owner of that Nissan, Julio Martinez, says his wife called him around 7 a.m. to tell him about the vehicle as it was on the verge of falling into the sinkhole. Martinez says he intentionally parked his car far enough from the curb to avoid a hole that had been there for about two weeks.

Bronx residents in the neighborhood told News 12 they first noticed a small hole on Thursday but didn't think much of it. Many in the community are now worried about the structural integrity of the street and whether its foundation is stable. They also believe Sunday's severe weather may have contributed to the street cave-in.
The DEP's investigation confirmed that the sinkhole was not linked to a water or sewage issue. The agency says that a contractor is making temporary repairs and that the area is safe.
Con Edison has been called for further info on determining the cause of the collapse.
