Council Member Marjorie Velazquez announces $1M in funding for community projects, public safety
$175,000 will go to Bronx Delta School to create a state-of-the-art hydroponic laboratory.
Council Member Marjorie Velazquez announced on Monday that $1 million of her capital budget will go to local projects focused on improving the community.
The first $200,000 will go toward public safety, and will enable the 45th and 49th Precincts to buy five new cameras to monitor criminal activity.

Over $450,000 will go to seven New York City Public Library branches for technology upgrades, that will help to bridge the digital divide in the Bronx, according to Melissa Davis of the Central Bronx Libraries.
"What that means is improving a lot of our tech programs, hopefully getting some new laptops, some new equipment that'll help just with everyone in the community who may not have the resources at home,” said Davis.
Lastly, $175,000 will go to Bronx Delta School to create a state-of-the-art hydroponic laboratory. Velazquez says this will help bring a new level of education to the school’s student body and hopes that the immersive experience.
Velazquez says the remaining funds will be used for various expenses as needed.
