'It's life-changing': Volleyball club looks to empower Bronx youth

The Legacy Volleyball Club in the Bronx is giving youth another opportunity this summer to pack the gym and play.
The Legacy Volleyball Club has been working for the last 12 years to provide the sport to underserved communities. Over 18,000 players between the ages of 5 and 18 have since had the chance to learn and compete.
From the ins and outs of serving, hitting and passing to fast-paced rallies, the players also learn they need to be ready for anything at any moment.
Jennifer Santos, the director of the program, says it has been game changing for kids on and off the court teaching teamwork above all else.
She's happy to see the sport growing and kids getting an opportunity she never had growing up in the Bronx.
"It doesn't matter whether we win or whether we lose, what color we are, where we come from," Santos says. "It's life-changing, honestly, to have it in the Bronx. We don't have many programs, especially volleyball that is being offered in the Bronx community."
The club offers clinics, club level teams and camps year-around for all ages.
