Bullets flew in a police-involved shooting in Morrisania on Thursday in the Bronx, according to the NYPD.

Union Avenue between East 167th and 168th streets was blocked off following the chaos that took place around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. It has since reopened.

Law enforcement officials say that a person shot at officers, and police returned fire. At this hour, they say that no people were struck by the gunfire.

“It’s scary… we have little kids. There’s a bunch of families here,” said one witness.

One witness provided video showing the incident unfold, and gunshots can be heard while multiple people, including a uniformed officer, are seen sprinting up East 169th Street.

Police say that a gun was thrown in the garbage that they recovered.

Two people have been taken into custody, but their identities and any connected charges are not currently available.
