A leading child cancer doctor and researcher in the Bronx was commemorated on Thursday for his hard work researching a cure.

Dr. David Loeb says bringing together doctors, researchers and supporters has helped give patients and their parents newfound hope, and he was awarded with a Hyundai Hope on Wheels grant to help continue his lifesaving efforts.

“They can see that there’s a broader community outside that really cares about what’s happening to them and wants to invest in efforts to make things better,” said Loeb.

Hyundai awarded Dr. Loeb $100,000 to support his ongoing critical research which focuses extra on patients dealing with Sarcoma. Loeb says one of his patients, Cathair Cashin, was able to beat their cancer diagnosis with advanced medicine while avoiding chemotherapy thanks to Loeb’s research.

Hyundai says that they have continually aided the fight to find a cure, donating over $225 million. They say their Hope on Wheels program plans to donate $25 million more to hospitals across the United States for pediatric cancer research.
