A protest was held on Thursday in response to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s plan to use Floyd Bennet Field in Brooklyn as a space to house 2,500 male asylum seekers.

According to city data, the number of migrants entering New York City surpassed more than 100,000.

Protesters tell News 12 that there has been a lack of transparency in the way the city has handled the migrant crisis.

“The problem is the City of New York found a flat piece of land wide open and said OK this is a good place to pitch your tent, we'll pitch, and they have shelter," said Sal Calise, the Bergen Beach civic president. "The problem with Floyd Bennett Field is that it floods and there’s no infrastructure for bathrooms showers, anything like that.”

Gov. Hochul’s plan to Floyd Bennet Field to house asylum seekers is currently pending a final agreement between the state and federal government.
