The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory Tuesday for high heat and humidity that's expected to make it dangerously hot.

With that high heat coming our way, it’s a good idea to start thinking about how you can beat the heat. The first option is to start by picking out clothes for the day that are loose and light. Avoid dark and tight clothing for Tuesday and Wednesday, which is when the heat advisory will be in place.

Tuesday will have temperatures in the low-90s, but with direct sun and high humidity, expect for the conditions to feel hotter. This can be dangerous for those that are outside for extended periods of time and for those with preexisting health conditions like asthma, people without air conditioning and older adults.

The Department of Health says these groups should be taking steps to avoid overheating like avoid strenuous activity, reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors and use air conditioning.

Cooling centers will be open on Tuesday around the city.
