FDNY officials say high carbon monoxide levels caused residents in multiple buildings to evacuate in Pelham Bay on Wednesday.
They were alerted of wires burning around 6:30 a.m. on Pilgrim Avenue, which left hundreds without power.
Con Edison arrived at 7 a.m. to find one building out of power with high carbon monoxide levels coming from a basement service box. Residents from three buildings along the block were evacuated immediately after.
No one was injured. Residents say they don’t know when they will be able to go back inside.
