New York creates Anti-Hate Education Center in response to Biden's plan to combat antisemitism

New York is officially the first state to respond to President Joe Biden's national strategy to counter antisemitism.
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a plan to combat the rise in hate toward Jewish people and expand support for victims of antisemitism. In a news conference held on Tuesday, Hochul revealed the creation of the New York State Anti-Hate Education Center that will serve as an intellectual hub and create safer and more inclusive environments.
"The number of antisemitic incidences in this great city have more than doubled in the last two years," said Gov. Hochul. That's one antisemitic attack, physical, verbal, every 33 hours, here in New York. That's not across the world, that's not across the nation."
Hochul also says antisemitism will be the focus of the center's inaugural convening, which is scheduled for the summer of 2024 and will take place annually, focusing on a variety of hate issues.
