Gov. Kathy Hochul announced at a news conference on Saturday that the subways are running on the normal weekend schedule.

Friday's historic storm caused trains to be suspended across the city, plus several subway stations being flooded.

"You have to reroute the trains around the problem areas," Hochul said. "You have to be pumping…It doesn't help when there's three feet of water to start thinking we should bring pumps in. This is what experience is all about, and this is how we responded to this."

"We did have an impact," added Metropolitan Transportation Authority CEO Janno Lieber. "We had only one station where water reached…up to the platform level. That was not true in Hurricane Ida."

According to city officials, over 4,300 buses were dispatched to make up for the loss of subway service.

Gov. Hochul also thanked bus drivers and first responders’ quick actions on Friday.
