Pro-Palestinian residents in the Bronx are condemning Rep. Ritchie Torres’ vocal support of Israel, calling on him to halt funding to the Israeli government.
Dozens of Palestinian flags flew outside of the congressman’s office on Tuesday, as many in attendance called his support of Israel a betrayal of his constituents and the Jewish faith.
The rally, organized by Bronx Anti-War, included not only those of Palestinian descent, but Puerto Rican and Jewish Bronx residents as well who came out to stand in solidarity with those suffering in Palestine.
In a letter addressed to Torres, the organization claims that he has actively ignored the needs of his constituents through his active affiliation with the American Israel Public Affairs committee while he has donated money to support the airstrikes on Gaza.
