City officials are pushing to keep hotel room occupancy taxes in plan before they are expected to expire in December.

Anyone who stays in a hotel room pays a small tax on top of the price for the room. This is also included for alternatives such as AirBnB.

While some city officials say this tax isn't something the city can afford to lose, they also say that there are no plans to increase the tax anytime soon.

This comes as other large tourism cities such as Venice have been increasing its own occupancy tax rates.

The vote will go to the City Council to decide if these taxes will stay.
