A 30-year tradition is continuing to make sure the Belmont community has a hot plate of food on Thanksgiving.

People lined up inside the Mount Carmel Church for mashed potatoes, turkey and lots of dessert.

Mayra Aviles’s mother created Iris’s Kitchen – a nonprofit that feeds anyone that needs a meal on Thanksgiving. The organization was created as a way to pay it forward.

Aviles says that there were times that her family did not have a hot meal, so blessing others is the least her family could do.

There was enough food to feed about 300 people.

Many of the volunteers say Thanksgiving is more than just eating. It's a chance to give thanks and spread love to people around you.
