A New York City man says his personal property and hundreds of dollars were stolen after he was robbed at gunpoint in Morris Heights.

Christian Ortiz says Dec. 9 was supposed to be payday but turned into a nightmare after a suspect followed him to his building near 183rd Street. He says that's when the man pulled out a gun and got away with more than just his watch and bracelet.

"He took my watch, he took my bracelet and the way he sounded he was like ready to kill me," said Ortiz.

Surveillance footage shared with News 12 shows the moment it all happened. The NYPD says that robbery is up 18.3% citywide since this week last year.
