FDNY: Wall collapses on top of auto body shop in Mount Hope

The FDNY says a wall holding up a two-story residential building fell onto the back part of the roof at Carter's Auto Body Shop Wednesday morning in Mount Hope.
The Department of Buildings say it had a partial vacate order on the residential buildings above the auto body shop since November 2020. They say the retaining wall was unsafe.
Five residential buildings on Anthony Avenue and three commercial properties of Carter's Auto Body Shop are now affected.
The DOB issued a response saying:
DOB has been called to respond to reports that a retaining wall behind a two-story residential building at 1756 Anthony Avenue, Bronx, had collapsed and sent debris on to a single story commercial building located on adjacent Carter Avenue. Our inspectors are currently on scene, and their investigation into the retaining wall collapse is ongoing.
An employee at the shop says it would have been a disaster if this happened during working hours.
No injuries were reported.
