Bronx residents took to the streets of Mount Eden on Friday to send a strong message and drive kids away from violence after the Mount Eden subway shooting that took place earlier this week.

Community activists came together to encourage bodegas and other small businesses in the area to keep their eyes peeled and keep officers informed.
Members of No Voice Unheard and the Bodega and Small Business Group say they’re looking to build trust and communication in response to the fatal shooting that took place on Monday.
“I changed my life and I’m here to tell the youth that you can possibly change your life if you put that work in and educate yourself,” said Melody Jimenez, CEO of No Voice Unheard. “If you feel like you don’t have someone that looks like you… we understand.”
Police say that they have a person of interest currently being questioned in connection to the shooting, but he has not been charged at this time.
