Recent gunpoint robbery has some calling for changes to bail reform laws

The United Bodegas of America rallied behind a smoke shop that was recently held up at gunpoint and robbed by three men.
They’re calling for Gov. Kathy Hochul to make changes to bail reform laws that would hold thieves accountable for their actions.
"None of that money is going to work until the bail reform laws are changed," said UBA president Fernando Mateo.
Police are searching for three robbers who were caught on camera stealing from the smoke shop. One of the suspects is spotted casually smoking a cigar while pointing a gun at the worker behind the counter before emptying the cashier’s pockets of $300 in cash.
The video shows a second man hopping over the counter, where police say he stole $1,000 worth of vapes and merchandise off of the walls. A third suspect stood guard at the front door. Police say around $3,000 in cash and products were stolen.
This comes after Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a $45 million plan to crack down on retail theft across the state.
