NYC charter school system serving school lunches made from scratch

KIPP NYC ditched a food vendor nearly a decade ago after noticing their kids weren’t finishing their meals. Now, they’ve got chefs in the kitchen making delicious food from scratch.

The charter school system has a student-worker program, where around 25 high schoolers ditch their lunch period to lend a hand in prepping the food.

Wednesday was "Chili and Chicken Po' Boy Day" at KIPP All Middle School and KIPP Elements Primary School – and fresh meals like these are offered at 10 of 18 KIPP NYC schools and counting.
